Visit Beautiful Beach of Ko Lipe in Thailand
Koh Lipe, an island off the shore of Southwestern Thailand, is considered a tropical island paradise: jungles, secluded beaches, swaying palms and calm waters. The island has some of the best reefs in Thailand, which makes for really great snorkeling and diving. It is just outside Tarutao National Park and surrounded by uninhabited islands of the Butong Archipelago.
Since Koh Lipe is located an hour or so by boat from both mainland Thailand and Langkawi, Malaysia, it’s a popular destination for tourists from both locations. If you’re looking for a deserted Thai island, Koh Lipe is not the place to go. However, if you go in low season, which is May to October, you might enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches without the crowds, though some hotels may be closed. Any time of the year, however, you’ll find great snorkeling as well as gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.
Koh Lipe Activities
Snorkelling and scuba diving are the most notable activities to practice at and around Koh Lipe. “8 Mile Rock”, ‘Yong Hua Shipwreck’, ‘Sting Ray City’, ‘Hin Takorn Dukong’, and ‘Stonehenge’ are just a few of the most famous dive points in the area. There are many dive centres on Koh Lipe, so even if you’ve never dived before, you can easily learn and get a PADI Open Water certificate which will allow you to discover most of the underwater marvels displayed all around Koh Lipe.
For snorkelling, it is even easier; you can rent the equipment in shops along the beaches and go straight from the shore: there are superb coral reefs just a few metres away waiting to be explored. Sea Kayaking and sailing are also available on Koh Lipe. On land, you can trek all around the island – it takes roughly one hour – and discover the lush tropical vegetation and its fauna at your pace.
