This 120 sq. meter pool is a part of the Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve of Krabi and is a freshwater pond with water of an irresistible green hue. One of the most sacred Buddhist sites in the province, it is well known for the tiger paw prints in the cave and a tall Buddha statues which sits at the summit with spectacular views across Krabi Town, mountains and the tropical rain forests. The Tham Sua temple is a Thai Buddhist meditation centre and also has places of archaeological and historical significance. The foundation of the temple dates back to 1975 when a Vipassana monk named Jumnean Seelasettho (Ajahn Jumnean) went to meditate in the cave. During his meditation, he witnessed tigers roaming around the cave. This discovery led to naming the temple Wat Tham Suea. Another legend says that an actual huge tiger used to live and roam the cave. At the top of the mountain there is a large golden Buddha statue.
